Who the categories were for

Registration was organized around the different relationships people have with health literacy work. Association members received a reduced rate. Nonmembers, students, and patient advocates had their own categories so that cost would not decide who could take part.

The published 2021 schedule

The rates below are the published schedule for the 2021 summit. They are kept here as a record and should not be treated as current pricing for any future gathering.

Delegates who registered under the wrong category were not entitled to a refund of the difference. The secretariat asked participants to confirm their category before paying.

Member registration

IHLA members qualified for the discounted rate, but membership had to be confirmed before registration could be finalized. The rule applied to individuals and to group administrators handling delegates on behalf of an organization.

Membership details and current association activity are available through the International Health Literacy Association.

Student and advocate eligibility

Reduced student rates applied to full time students enrolled at a college or university, and to people completing a first internship or postgraduate medical training before specialization. Part time students, postdoctoral candidates who earn an income, and anyone else who did not meet the criteria were asked to register under the standard category.

Student registration required valid photo identification. If the proof was not accepted, the fee was moved to the standard nonmember rate.

Transfers and cancellations

Registration fees were nonrefundable, but a registration could be transferred to another person. Transfer requests had to be made in writing to the secretariat. The team confirmed the process and any conditions that applied at the time.
